This week, we are highlighting Pooja Sivakumar as Vendition’s Apprentice of The Week! She has been doing an amazing job at Hustle and we can’t wait to see even more success come her way!

After graduating from San Jose State University with a Psychology degree, Pooja wasn’t sure what she wanted to pursue as a career. Even though she knew she was really interested in the sales industry as a potential career path, she had no prior experience in a sales role. After getting rejected from a number of positions she applied for, she decided to go through Vendition.

“When I started working with Vendition, my Relationship Manager immediately connected me with prospective companies for job interviews and gave me interview preparation. I actually had a job offer and kept it on my back burner before I started interviewing with Hustle, but their company mission of connecting with people more personally really stood out to me and was something I strongly believed in. My manager at Hustle worked closely with Vendition’s mentorship coach, Ashleigh, in training me to become a successful SDR and learn effectively in a fast-paced environment.

“One of the things I found most challenging was selling the company without selling the product. I learned a lot from Ashleigh about handling different personas on the phone, scheduling my workload well, and effective emailing and outbound strategy. She taught me how to tailor my strategies to my own needs and learn what works for me. I definitely feel a lot more confident after a few months into the role, and it gives me comfort knowing that Ashleigh will always be there as a resource whenever I need her help.”

 

Here are some tips from Pooja for future SDRs:

“Learn from people around you on the team. Take what works for you from what other people do and make it into something that works for you.

“Make good use of the resources around you. It’s up to you to put in the hard work and make the most out of it.

“If you come from a background with no sales experience like me, you can really redo and recreate your own career path. Believe in yourself.”

 

Closing thoughts:

“Vendition really helped me get my foot in the door and break into the tech sales space, and I am very thankful for that. The team is really willing to help you no matter how long it takes to get you there and will continue to support you after.”
